Birthday Brunch Blessings with Sandy and I

Hello, everyone!  Sandy and I had a lovely time the other night at the fantastic Rue 57, as we were there to celebrate our beloved Irwin’s 81st birthday.  With 20 people in attendance, we enjoyed fantastic food and sparkling conversation amongst our loved ones.  What’s more, our sister-in-law, Susan, decorated our area with charming flower plants with hearts.

To say that this was an enchanting occasion is an understatement!  Needless to say, we were honored to be a part of a wonderful occasion that celebrated the life of one of the nearest and dearest people in our lives.  After all, I consider it a blessing to be able to grow older and wiser with the people that we love.

This celebration inspired Sandy and I to take a vacation to see another dear friend of ours, Lucille, in Mexico City.  Though we’ve since left on Friday, we can’t wait to share the exciting stories that we’ll be sure to have when we return.  Until then, have a wonderful Chinese New Year and a happy Valentine ’s Day!

My Return to the Countryside

Hello, darlings!  I had such a great time at the Irwin and Susan Cohen’s party a few weeks ago that Sandy and I decided to make a second trip up there on Tuesday.  With Sandy’s splendid caretaker, Moody, as well as our wonderful driver, Jonathan, in tow, we arrived on their gorgeous Swing Tree Farm with every intention of enjoying the tranquility that it had to offer.

Wearing an Off Broadway Boutique stars and stripes sequin beret to complement my all-white outfit, I thought that it would be nice to provide some pre-Fourth of July fashion fireworks to our hosts.  As soon as we arrived, I gifted Sue with an Off Broadway Boutique red, white, and blue visor while giving Irwin a majestic American flag to celebrate the occasion.

It was wonderful to sit down and talk with Sue, as we shared a lot of laughs while enjoying the fresh fruit that she served us.  Moody loved the feeling of the grass between her toes so much that she hadn’t wanted to leave.  However, it was the scrumptious seafood at Torches on the Hudson that brought us a new appreciation for the countryside away from the city.  Located on the Hudson River, dining there served as the perfect end to a lovely day.

The best part about our time in the country was while we brought our city attitude to Sue and Irwin, they embraced us with an invitation to the relaxing Swing Tree Farm – a place that I plan on visiting again very soon.

Fête on the Farm – My Day in the Countryside

Hello, darlings!  I had the most wonderful time last Sunday and it was all thanks to Irwin and Susan Cohen, who invited my husband, Sandy, and I to a party on their sprawling Swing Tree Farm.  Located in Campbell Hill, NY near Goshen in Orange County – a ninety minute drive from the city past Bear Mountain – our time there brought back fond memories of Sandy and Irwin racing the horses that they had owned on the grounds.

Back then, they had wanted to start a syndicate for standard bred horses that they would be able to race and have fun with.  As we enjoyed driving through the scenic route of flower fields, stately homes, and majestic trees, I marveled at how the farm that Irwin initially bought as a way to get into the racing business transformed into a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The beauty of the acres of land that Swing Tree Farm sits on took my breath away as we arrived on the grounds.  A bundle of joy and excitement, Susan immediately welcomed us with open arms while leading us into a huge white tent that was erected on their lawn.  Once inside, we were pleased to see a huge array of delicious food and plenty of drinks along with the wonderful friends and family that we had the pleasure of reuniting with.

We had such fun in the country last Sunday that I certainly plan to make it a habit to visit Irwin and Susan again in the future.  What’s more; the experience reminded me that I needed to stop and smell the roses once in a while, as it is easy to forget to do so when one lives a full life.  Take it from me as a city dweller – there is nothing like a day in the country to help you relax and forget all of your worries.
