Hello, darlings! As a woman over 50 who is a vintage style aficionado, I was thrilled to be invited to one of the top fashion events of the year – the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show. Taking place this past Friday, I had wonderful fun hobnobbing with the fabulous fashionistas while having my photo taken by many high-profile photographers and bloggers.
Being surrounded by such high-profile people as Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style and Bill Cunningham of The New York Times, while being chronicled by AOL, was as thrilling as New York Fashion Week. Needless to say, the process of attending this show is more exciting than the show itself.
The best part about this magical night was being complimented on my red vintage felt hat – a hat that I knew would be just right for this occasion from the first time that I laid eyes on it in the vintage reruns department of my boutique. Pairing it with my red suede boots and marvelous black cape completed my style for a woman over 50.
Hello, ladies! Lynn Dell has prided herself on being The Countess of Glamour for years, which is why it was no surprise to see her featured on the fabulous Jezebel this past Thursday. Showing off her unique brand of fashion for women over 50, she wore a posh patent leather oversized beret that captured her personality perfectly.
So popular was Lynn’s hat that it catapulted her article onto a spot on Jezebel’s top stories of the week! If you’d like that same sizzle in your style, stop by Off Broadway Boutique for this beautiful beret in your choice of fabric.
Our pleated stripe open vest top is a versatile piece to suit versatile women over 50 everywhere! Inspired by Issey Miyake, we present you with a delicate vest that packs a punch with a bold black and white stripe pattern. This one size fits all item can be worn so many different ways, we’ve lost count!
Perhaps Lynn Dell can provide us with some insight…
Hello, darlings! As I have mentioned before, I love attending the art exhibits at the renowned museums in my lovely hometown of New York City. This past Wednesday night proved to be no exception as I attended the gala benefit for the wonderful LOOT 2011 exhibit at the Museum of Art and Design (MAD) with my fashionable friend, Brianna Hurley. A cash and carry event whose proceeds went to charity, it showcased the some of the best artist-made jewelry that I have ever laid my eyes on.
While we rode the elevator up to the exhibit, we came across a dapper gentleman who was very charming. Introducing himself as Alfredo Molina of Black Starr Frost, he impressed me by the effortless way that he outshined many of the attendees by looking like a million dollars. Once we finally arrived at the LOOT 2011: MAD about Jewelry exhibit, we saw many patrons and friends take in the exquisite and innovative jewelry while making new friends.
Donning a snazzy vintage hat that belonged to her grandmother along with one of the LOOT jewelry pieces – a beautiful bracelet from Anastasia Azure, a talented artist and designer that specializes in gorgeous sculptural jewelry – Brianna garnered quite a bit of attention at the gala:
What’s more, she and I – who was just as chic as she in a stunning beret – caught the eye of the great photographer, Ric Kallaher, who proceeded to take wonderful photos of us. We were very excited to have our photos taken throughout the evening, as we knew that it was largely due to the stylish hats that we wore. You should definitely keep this in mind when dressing yourself for an event that you want to be noticed at.
In addition to this exhibit, Brianna and I attended an exclusive opening of Crafting Modernism: Midcentury American Art and Design. After enjoying ourselves at that exhibit, we decided to close our evening of fabulous culture with dinner at Robert – also located at the MAD. Not only the food divine, but we were privileged to overlook one of the best views of New York City.
Hello, everyone! A few months ago, we had mentioned our very own Lynn Dell being featured on ELLE Sweden’s fashion blog by the lovely Sofia Hedstrom. In addition to that glowing article, Ms. Hedstrom was kind enough to highlight her as the muse to our very good friend, Ari Seth Cohen, in an interview about him for the Norwegian television show, Nationalgalleriet.
Capturing Ari wonderfully while presenting Lynn as a fashionable woman over 50 is the main reason why we’re forever grateful to Ms. Hedstrom for doing such a fantastic job. As promised previously, we present the entire segment for the enjoyment of all women over 50 with Lynn featured in the video from 2:50 to 3:40.
